From Vision to Illustration: How I Create Custom Artwork for Authors, Businesses, and Personal Projects
Creating art that brings someone’s idea to life is what I love most. Whether it’s illustrating a children’s book, designing a holiday card for a business, or crafting a unique gift like an illustrated family story, custom illustration is about turning your vision into something tangible and beautiful.
Here’s a closer look at my process and the kinds of custom illustrations I create.
The Custom Illustration Process
Understanding Your Vision: It starts with a conversation where we get to know each other, and I pick up the feel of what you’d like to accomplish. What story do you want to tell? What style of art speaks to you? How will this project be printed? What’s your timeline?
Sketching Ideas: Once we have a direction and an agreement, I’ll begin sketching. These early drafts let us explore ideas and refine the artwork together. My background in graphic design means that I’m skilled at creating visuals that are both expressive and functional, and that I have a variety of styles that I can create.
Bringing it to Life: Using my iPad and sophisticated drawing programs, I create polished, digital illustrations that fit your needs perfectly — whether it’s for print, web, merchandise, or personal use.
